An Above Average Hurricane Season
Calls for Above Average Coverage

As 2024’s record-breaking hurricane season nears its peak, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Climate Prediction Center has issued an updated forecast.

The mid-season forecast calls for 17-24 named storms, which remains close to their initial forecast and includes the four named storms we’ve already seen this season. Eight to 13 of these storms could become hurricanes, with as many as four to seven developing into major hurricanes (winds of 111 mph or more). NOAA verifies a 90% probability of these numbers.

NOAA’s National Weather Service emphasizes potential risks like damaging winds and storm surges and encourages everyone to have a safety plan.
